To kick-off their highly anticipated events in recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, The Center for Black Women’s Wellness (CBWW), in partnership with the Black Women’s Health Imperative, held a community forum entitled Getting to the Root: Breast Cancer Disparities in Atlanta on October 10, 2012 at Morehouse School of Medicine.  The goal of the forum was to continue the ongoing dialogue around breast cancer treatments, health legislation, and prevention.

A breast cancer survivor herself, CBS Atlanta News anchor JaQuitta Williams served as the MC for the forum, which included a panel discussion and lectures featuring notable health professionals and cancer survivors as well as a soul stirring performance by singer, songwriter and pianist Avery*Sunshine.
